SECAP: Videoconference "The origins and impacts of climate change and the efforts of local communities to address them" 3.02.2021, 9: 00-11: 00


On Wednesday, 03/02/2021, between 09.00 and 11.00, the GOLEA Agency will organize an online event entitled "Sources and Impacts of Climate Change and the Efforts of Local Communities to Cope with It", which will take place within the EU SECAP project (Interreg Slovenia-Italy). The achieved results and set goals of the SECAP project will be presented in the introductory part of the event. This will be followed by lectures by two renowned Slovenian climatologists who are active in the field of climate change. They will talk about the impacts and challenges of climate change in Slovenia. The second part of the event will focus on the EU's Covenant of Mayors initiative on climate change and energy. In this part, 5 mayors of Primorska municipalities will talk about the measures and efforts of local communities to tackle climate change (MO Nova Gorica, MO Koper, Municipality Ajdovščina, Municipality Pivka and Municipality Idrija). The presentation will be followed by the signing of the accession form to the Covenant of Mayors - 3 mayors (MONG, IOC and Ajdovščina) will join the European movement Covenant of Mayors for Climate Change and Energy and thus voluntarily commit to achieving the European Union's climate and energy goals on their territory , the municipality of Pivka is expected to join in February 2021, and the municipality of Idrija joined the initiative in 2015.
