ISE-EMH

Italian-Slovene ecosystem for electronic and mobile health
Priority Axis 1

Promoting innovation capacities for a more competitive area

Specific Objective:
OS 1.1.
Investment Priority:
PI 1b
Typology:
Standard
Overall Objective of the Project:

The main overall project objective is to strengthen cross-border cooperation and knowledge transfer in the field of electronic and mobile health (EMH). Collaboration and knowledge transfer will be facilitated by the creation of a cross-border EMH ecosystem, which will allow the joint and synergistic development of new solutions and the transfer of knowledge among multiple stakeholders (companies, research institutes, healthcare institutions, etc.).

Project summary:

The goal of ISE-EMH (Italian-Slovene Ecosystem for Electronic and Mobile Health) is to extend and improve the e-health and mobile health project, part of the EcoSMART project http://ekosmart.net/it/about/. The value of the latter project is 8.66 million euros. It is a three-year-project ending within 6 months. Its results are already very evident: a distributed ecosystem of services, systems and data. Some of them are integrable or usable in other systems. The emphasis is on EMH services.  The EMH ecosystem will be extended to improve Slovene backbone,by using Italian skills in medical field and ICT and through cross-border knowledge transfer to create an improved EMH ecosystem. It will  allow cooperation in participant Italian and Slovenian regions: Industry will gain access to innovative solutions developed by the academic world. Academia advanced research will be validated and capitalized in production environments. Patients will have access to available innovative healthcare services and applications,  some for free and some upon payment. Hospitals will be connected to their patients through ICTs to give them access to patient data in a secure and easily accessible way. Elderly will gain remote home assistance. Healthcare Providers e developers will  offer easy use and promotion of innovative solutions, through direct connection  with end users. The ecosystem will be validated with at least 6 applications within the EMH ecosystem developed.

Main results:

The main project results will be:
1. A platform developed to connect products and services, the backbone of the ecosystem
2. Integration and connection of existing products, services and systems through the platform in a complete ecosystem
1. The new ecosystem for e-health and mobile health will facilitate the integration of Slovenian and Italian partners, both in the development and in the marketing and distribution of the developed systems. The basic component of the ecosystem will be a platform to allow suppliers to easily add and integrate services and products. The main advantage of the platform will be the integration of systems from different suppliers to get better solutions. A great advantage of the platform is that it will connect and search for potential partners in the cross-border area, by using the functions of advanced search and of the recommendation system. In fact, on the basis of the services and products offered by one partner, it will highlight the compatible products / services from other partners. The platform will support multilingualism, at least English, Slovene and Italian, with automatic translation.
2. At the beginning, partners will add their products and services to the platform linking them to common products. IJS will introduce in Slovene municipalities, in particular in those bordering Italy, the smart watch for the elderly recognizing falls and other functions, thus allowing for them better assistance and quality of life and allowing a 3-years-delated moving to the nursing home. Italian pensioners will find here quality care at affordable prices becoming an important source of funding for Slovenia. An agreement with a cross-border municipality is already in progress.
